Frank Lloyd Wright Thomas Gale House Renovation and Addition

As one of Wright’s earliest ‘bootleg’ homes in Oak Park, Illinois, done freelance while he was still engaged with another architectural firm, this house was in desperate need of a respectful overhaul. The kitchen in these types of homes was a little bigger than a medium sized closet today and all the bedrooms shared a common bath on the second floor.

DMA Architects designed an open family room/ kitchen first floor addition with a second floor master bath and closet extension added to one of the bedrooms. The balance of the house was also renovated.

Evanston Mixed Use

This mixed use building consists of first floor commercial space and two upper floors of 4 residential units each. The building had lower level parking for residences with nominal parking in the rear. The building was designed in a prairie style.

Hyde Park Townhouse Development

Indian Village Townhomes was built on a site overlooking Lake Shore Drive near the University of Chicago.

The 7- four story attached townhome units have beautiful views of the Chicago skyline to the north. The units feature: first floor garage and guest suite, second floor living space, third floor bedrooms and a fourth floor family room with exterior deck space.

High rise Condo Renovation

This was a limited renovation of a high rise Chicago condominium. The study was opened to the living room with a pair of opaque glass pocket doors. A wall shelf was added in the living room. Kitchen and all the bathrooms were upgraded with new cabinetry and fixtures.

Lakeside House Door County

This 2600 square foot house sits on the rocky shore of Lake Michigan just outside of Sturgeon Bay Wisconsin. Designed to capture some of the shapes and forms of the indigenous barns of central Wisconsin, the house is modestly contemporary, designed to make the most of its lake setting. Large glass windows enhance the lake view with an open floor plan and tall ceilings. The house has a living, dining, kitchen area, a large master suite, 2 additional bedrooms, a study, loft and 2 and a half bathrooms. The exterior is clad in cedar shingles.

Residential Design Renovations

Lake Michigan Residence

This 10,000 square foot house on a bluff overlooking Lake Michigan had to be designed under the guidance of the DNR (Department of Natural Resources).

The three story house consisted of a lower level walk out family, guest and pool spaces, first floor living spaces and a second floor suite of bedrooms. The owner requested that it be designed in a French style.
